Niebrugge Furniture was established in 1978 by Gerald “Jerry” and Diane Niebrugge. After serving his country in the Vietnam War, Jerry moved back to his hometown in Effingham, working at a local furniture store.
After a few years in the business, Jerry decided to start his own company with his good friend Jim Niebrugge. Jerry and Jim named the company Niebrugge A-1 Furniture, selling new and used furniture. As the pair looked to the future, they decided that in order to grow, they had to tear down their existing building and start from scratch. Several years later, Jerry became the sole owner of Niebrugge Furniture, focusing on quality, new merchandise, local service and reasonable prices.
In 2004, Jerry’s son Jason began working full time at the store after graduating with a degree in business from Eastern Illinois University. In 2007, in order to increase floor space, Jerry and Jason decided to tear down the existing warehouse and build a new showroom. Now offering more than 15,000 Sq. Ft. of furniture, Niebrugge Furniture is able to better serve their customers.
